Getting Started
Kick Off Call. We’ll get started with a deep dive into your business goals for this project so that I have all the information I need to write great copy for you. This will take about an hour of your time, and I’ll ask you a ton of questions. I’ll want to be clear about your project objectives, and we’ll go down the rabbit hole a bit on your unique selling proposition (your key differentiators in the market), your target audience, their pain points and how your business resolves these (and how you're unique from the competition!). We’ll talk about brand tone and more!
Creative Brief. Based on our discussion, I’ll write a quick 2-page Creative Brief that summarizes the key points from our conversation. This will be my blueprint and guide many writing decisions. You should feel free to revise anything on the Brief. In fact, the more precise and clear we can make it, the more likely you’ll get the copy you want quickly. Once I get the thumbs up from you on the Brief, I’ll roll up my sleeves and get to work!
Your Copy
The First Draft. This is the best part – getting to see how our ideas start to feel on paper. The most important thing I want you to know at this stage is that all good writing is re-writing. This is not the finished product! This is my first attempt to give you what you want. It’s up to you to let me know the changes that may be needed. Once I get your feedback, I’ll make the revisions.
The Second Draft. This is one of my favorite steps in the process because by now I’ve received important feedback from you. I have a much better sense of what is working and what needs to be changed.
Tweaks? Typically, by this stage, the copy is pretty close to being final. But I’m happy to make a few more tweaks to make it sing.
Your Documents
Google Folder. I’ll set up a Google Folder with all the project documents so that you never have to go searching through your inbox and always know where to find everything. This will include a Google spreadsheet where you’ll see the status of each deliverable, and what’s needed, with links to the latest copy drafts.
Communicating With Each Other
Weekly Update. I’ll be in touch each week just to keep you informed about where things are in the process.
